Holiday Tour of Homes
Many of our members were disappointed that the Holiday Tour of Homes had been cancelled this year. They were so concerned that they worked with us to find homeowners who would support the tour. While we have not reached our goal of eight homes, we feel we can continue our search and move forward. The 49th DNA Holiday Tour of Homes is on!
The tour will take place on December 14 from 10:00 am to 5 pm. Tickets will go on sale in the next two weeks. More information on tickets will be provided soon. Many thanks to my wife, Joyce McDonald for agreeing to once again serve as tour director.
We are still looking for homes. I am hoping that some of you would be willing to open your home as part of this year’s tour. The tour is a great opportunity to show off that new addition or kitchen! If you or your neighbors are interested in supporting the tour, please contact Joyce at holidaytour@savannahdna.org. Remember all the profits raised from the tour go to support nonprofits in our community.
We will again be looking for volunteer docents to serve in the homes. The website for signups will be launched in late September. Watch the newsletter and the DNA website for more information.
Upcoming Elections
I am sure all of you are aware of the upcoming November elections. It’s difficult not to be with all of the political commercials during our local news programs. But we thought it would be good to remind everyone of some important dates:
October 7—final day to register to vote in the November elections.
October 15 through November 1—early voting period.
November 5—Election Day.
December 3—run off election if necessary for Federal and local positions.
You can, and should, verify your voting status and polling location at the My Voter Page on the Chatham County Board of Elections website.
Also, on Monday, September 16 the League of Women Voters of Coastal Georgia will be hosting a forum for the position of Chatham County District Attorney. Both candidates will be present. The forum will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St. Doors open at 6 and the program begins at 6:30. Register for Forum here: https://bit.ly/4dR7e39
September Membership Meeting
Just a reminder that our next monthly meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17 at 6 pm. The social period will begin at 5:30. As usual the meeting will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St. Our presenter that night is Chief of Police Lenny Gunther.
The Board looks forward to seeing everyone next week.
