President's Message • September 5, 2023

From the President:

Is it just me or is everyone looking forward to Fall and its cooler weather? It was definitely a hot summer.

Speaking of hot, tickets for this year's Holiday Tour of Homes and Inns went on sale last Friday, September 1, at 8 am. The morning session was sold out in an hour and 40 minutes. The afternoon session was sold out by 5 pm. A lot of interest in this tour from many people. For those of you needing tickets, we will be looking for docents and other support starting in October. For those of you who would like to have your home included in this hot ticket item, please let me know and we will try to include your home.

Last week members of the Board met with the Project Manager and representatives from the General Services Administration (GSA) concerning the status of the Tomochichi Federal Courthouse on Bull St. The clean-up from the floor collapse will be completed within the next few weeks, and they expect to restart the renovations by the end of September. The completion date is currently anticipated to be the end of 2025. According to the GSA representatives, they are not concerned about funding as they believe that full funding has been identified and is only waiting on the official appropriation approval through Congress. You can read more about this project here. You can also sign up to be included in updates provided by GSA.

Just a reminder that the next membership meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, September 12. Our presenter will be Chief of Police Lenny Gunther. The meeting will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St. The social period will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting at 6 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there. RSVP HERE.

The Board hopes that each of you had a relaxing Labor Day weekend and Holiday.
