From the President:
January Monthly Meeting
As I hope you are aware, the January meeting has been rescheduled from tomorrow until next Tuesday, January 28. We will begin with the social period as usual at 5:30.
Sorry for any confusion with the incorrect date in an earlier email. I was told to write the notice before I had a glass of wine but did not listen. Hopefully, we will all survive the cold weather this week and meet at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St next week.
As previously stated, our speaker will be Reed Dulany, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dulany Industries, Inc., who will be discussing alternative plans for the future of the Talmadge Bridge.
So please join us as we discuss the future of our city.
Historic Savannah Foundation
Joyce and I attended the opening of an exhibit at the Historic Savannah Foundation’s Davenport House last week about Savannah's Chinese immigrant history. This exhibition features rare photographs and stories that reveal the daily lives of the Robert Chan family, their business endeavors, and their experience as part of a growing Chinese-American community in the South in the early 20th century. The Chan family also lived in the Davenport House when it was a tenement in the early 1900s.
We found the exhibit fascinating and well done. The exhibit is free, and you’ll find it in the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy at 323 E Broughton St. You can find more information here.
The Board hopes everyone stays safe and warm this week.
David McDonald
President
