Re: Moratorium on Hotels in the Landmark District

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Advisors of the Savannah Downtown Neighborhood Association,

The Downtown Neighborhood Association supports a pause in large scale commercial development in the Landmark District.  The Historic Landmark District is the irreplaceable gem of Savannah and must be protected.  Thoughtful development in line with zoning and design protection will ensure the longevity of the district for generations to come.  We would encourage the development and implementation of incentives for residential build be a part of this pause process, as a greater number of residents will only benefit the local economy and area businesses.
