The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
I encourage all residents of the Landmark District to join the over 37.8 million neighbors across 16,124 communities in celebration of the 31st annual National Night Out scheduled for Tuesday August 5, 2014.
Participation is easy!
You can show your support of this event by leaving your porch lights on during the evening of August 5. It’s something every resident of the Landmark District can do to discourage crime not just on National Night Out but every night.
Sincerely,
John Buckovich
