Public Safety Committee Meeting

DNA's next Public Safety Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3 at 6 p.m. at The Collins Quarter in the back room.
Many thanks to those of you who assisted in handing out flyers and sign distribution for last Fall's Lock It or Lose It Campaign.  Through our efforts, the number of auto break-ins were significantly reduced (Capt Herron presented these statistics at our Gen Membership Meeting with Chief Lumpkin).

At our last Committee meeting we approved to propose the hiring of an off duty officer to patrol the residential area.  The DNA board subsequently approved our proposal and the funds for this initiative.  In November, our first officer patrolled the downtown residential area.  Just recently, our hired off duty officer, while on patrol for DNA,  assisted in apprehending the suspect in an armed robbery near Troup Square that was later positively identified.  WE ARE MAKING AN IMPACT.
The latest topic of interest expressed by many DNA members is the need for more surveillance downtown. This will be on Tuesday's agenda to discuss as well as any other thoughts the committee may have on other initiatives that residents can be involved in to improve downtown public safety for our residents.  Capt. Herron will also be in attendance to give an update and participate in our discussion.

R.S.V.P. so we can ensure adequate space and materials for all. Serving on the Public Safety Committee is open to all DNA members.

Thank you to The Collins Quarter, (151 Bull St.) for being our host for this meeting!
